Engaging w/ Large Brands on Twitter

After following my favorite brands on twitter, as if trying to funnel them down to five wasn't hard enough, getting their attention is a much harder feat to attempt. I made a strategy to flatter them first then ask them a question regarding their product. My thought process behind this strategy was to be the perfect example of what they would like to see on their social media profiles, a happy customer interested in learning more about their product and/or their company to show everyone else. In other words, I'm simply telling them what they want to hear. An example of this was when I asked KinSnacks "what makes your snacks so delicious without using so much sugar like most snacks use?"Or when I asked Costa Del Mar "Thank you so much for making the by far best quality sunglasses on the market! I absolutely LOVE my costas! How are your lenses made? What makes them so clear?" After implementing this strategy, I got no response. None whatsoever. With this said, you live and you learn. In the future, i will learn from my past and remember not to use the "tell them what they want to hear" strategy and come up with a refined strategy in order to get their attention. Im thinking about building off the "tell them what they want to hear" strategy and incorporating a sort of complaint where I explain how I have been loyal to their brand for x amount of years and how I am all of a sudden disappointed in their product and/or service. Not only is this what they want to hear, that they actually DO have a loyal customer base (the objective of any company) and they will most likely want to maintain that loyal customer base and answer back without looking like they don't care about their customers.
