Valentines Day is all about pathos! Some of the things that come to mind when I think about valentines day is love, emotion, romance, cupid, sunsets, candy, school celebrations, and the color red. A piece of pop culture that fulfills all these commonly associated characteristics with Valentines Day is the motion picture "Her." As silly as the plot is, the movie is about a man that falls in love with a piece of technology, AI (artificial intelligence), and documents the love affair. As you can imagine, this warm and heart filling plot is warm and romantic, might have some sunsets, TONS of emotion, not so much as sugar fueled school celebrations, but is a movie that has a lot of emotion without a doubt. When the movie try's to spark emotion towards the main character in the movie, its trying to make a connection with its audience especially since the audience is experiencing arguably the most emotional day/holiday of the year the movie does this very well. You can't help but feel his emotions when he introspects his most recent conversation with "Her" and recall a time when you personally did the same thing to your significant other. In short, the movie "Her" sufficiently supplies the audiences thirst for pathos.
