Project 1 Update

My pop culture topic/icon is Donald J. Trump. The three artifacts I plan to analyze rhetorically are the Make America Great Again hats, his inauguration speech, and his announcement to run for presidency. His speech to announce that he is to run for president was in the Trump Tower in New York City. His speech did not utilize much of logos, but mostly pathos and ethos. Ivanka Trump began the speech by praising her father (Donald Trump) about the things he has accomplished in his life, how local and federal governments have asked him to "save" various projects, why he "doesn't need an introduction." These excerpts are her attempts to tell people why Donald is qualified to be the President, which precisely what the rhetorical appeal ethos is. Also, Donald then takes the podium and talks about how we are "loosing" at everything, such as at the Mexican/American border, trading with China, and the military conflicts were involved in overseas such as Iraq, and how we can't even take care of out veterans that come out wounded from these conflicts. These are all examples of pathos, he is trying to make his audience "feel" that America should always be number one in everything we do.
